Stays·machiya·KanazawaPlaceholder
A two-storey wooden townhouse near the teahouse district, restored with local lacquer and gold leaf.
Tsuta means ivy, and it covers the side wall in summer and turns red in autumn. The house is all yours: a sitting room on tatami, a small garden, a bedroom under the eaves.
Local craftspeople restored it. The alcove holds a lacquer tray, the sliding doors have gold-leaf pulls. Higashi Chaya is a few minutes’ walk, best before the shops open.
